Frequently asked questions
1. What is PayMaya QR?
PayMaya QR is a technology that enables you to purchase goods and/or services just by scanning the merchant’s QR code using the PayMaya app. A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode readable by smartphones. It’s a simpler and safer way to pay instead of manually entering the merchant’s data into your mobile phones. Upon scanning, you will have the account details of the merchant and can complete the purchase by sending your payment to the PayMaya merchant from your PayMaya wallet.
2. Where can I pay using PayMaya?
PayMaya accountholders can use the PayMaya mobile app or PayMaya debit card to pay for various purchases and transactions. Merchants that accept PayMaya QR will display a QR code to enable payments.
AXA Philippines is now one of the partner merchants of PayMaya. General insurance policyholders can now choose to pay their auto insurance, home insurance, and marine cargo insurance premiums at any AXA branches that accommodate general insurance transactions.
3. Why would I use QR code payments instead of cash?
Payment via QR code eliminates the need to dig through your wallet for bills and change. There’s no risk of money falling out, and it’s safer because your money is secured in an electronic wallet.
Using PayMaya QR will also give you instant rewards and you can earn loyalty points* for every use.

All you have to do is:
• Tap the Scan icon in the home screen of your PayMaya app
• Scan the branch’s QR code
• Input the amount
• Click ‘Continue’
• Check the transaction details
• Click ‘Pay’
• Present the confirmation message to the branch officer/specialist
6. Do I need to be in the AXA branch to complete the transaction?
Yes, you have to be close enough for the PayMaya app to clearly scan the branch’s QR code. It is best that you stay in the branch until the payment is confirmed so you can show the transaction details to the branch officer/specialist on the spot.
7. How do I know if the transaction was successful?
A pop-up screen should appear in the app right after the transaction and you’ll also receive a transaction confirmation via SMS once it’s been processed. You can also check your transaction history and account balance in the app’s home screen.
8. Are there any fees if I make a PayMaya QR payment?
None, paying via PayMaya QR is totally free! No convenience charges or service fees involved.
9. Is there a minimum or maximum transaction account when making PayMaya QR payments?
There is no minimum transaction amount for you to make a PayMaya QR payment.
On the other hand, since PayMaya QR payments are treated as purchases*, there are maximum transaction limits based on your money-in limit for the month. This limit will depend on the status of your PayMaya Account (Starter or Upgraded). This means that a starter account can purchase up to Php 50,000.00 per month and an upgraded account can purchase up to Php 100,000.00 per month.
10. Is this method of payment safe?
Each QR code is unique per merchant so when you scan with PayMaya QR, you’re guaranteed that the information you’ll receive is accurate without any risk of any manual input errors. Access to your account is also secured by a password log-in before you can transact. PayMaya is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), so you have peace of mind.
11. How can I confirm if the AXA branch accepts this payment method?
Just look for the “PayMaya QR accepted here” sign inside the branch. You can also check the PayMaya website, www.PayMaya.com or their official Facebook page @PayMayaOfficial for the list of merchants accepting PayMaya QR payments.
