AXA promotes safe driving habits with pay-how-you-drive insurance

According to the MMDA’s latest Metro Manila Accident Reporting and Analysis System (MMARAS) annual report, there were 197 road crashes in Metro Manila in 2022. 52% of these cases involved private cars, which emphasizes the need for better observation of road safety when travelling, not only for passengers inside the vehicle, but also for other road users.

To help promote safer driving practices, AXA has partnered with Toyota Motor Philippines to introduce Connected Toyota Insure (CTI), the first pay-how-you-drive car insurance product in the country which incentivizes safe driving.

Customers can get a driving score via myToyota Connect, a new feature of myToyota App that links customers to their telematics-enabled Toyota vehicles using their smartphones. Key metrics for a trip score calculation includes acceleration, braking, and cornering. Data captured from every trip is mapped to a score on a scale of 0-100. Aggressive driving behavior like rapid/sudden acceleration, harsh braking, or harsh left/right turns are driving behavior data considered in the evaluation.

With Connected Toyota Insure, a cutting-edge insurance product, safer driving traits reward the user with up to 25% savings on their renewal premium.

By offering CTI, AXA intends to contribute to a safer and more secure environment with pay-how-you-drive insurance that utilizes connected cars and automobile big data on driver behavior.
